You might be wondering what the difference is between laminated glass and ordinary glass? The truth is they both have the same strength. The difference is when it gets damaged as laminated consists of two pieces of glass constructed with a plastic inner layer which holds the glass together. Thus preventing intruders coming in through a hole or injury from pieces of stray glass.
What about Toughened Glass?
Well, this is up to five times stronger than ordinary glass and has to be hit much harder to break. Also, when it does break, it breaks into many tiny pieces which is far less dangerous.
What about fire resistant glass?
This glass is classified in terms of how well it stops flames and hot gases and is separated by 30 minute steps, ie, 30, 60, 90 and so on. Your own circumstances will dictate how much protection you need or require but fire resistant glass is really designed to buy you time and save lives.
If you are looking for replacement upvc windows and live within the Midlands, Leicester or Milton Keynes, our designers will be happy to answer any questions that you may have through this site.

We use Pilkington Glass for our products because of it’s reputation for quality within upvc, pvc-u replacement windows.
One of its most recent achievements is the Pilkington Activ self cleaning glass, especially good for upstairs windows and conservatory roofs where it can be difficult to clean. The glass comes with an exteria coating which loosens any dirt or grime, then when it rains, the dirt washes away leaving the glass looking clean.
For more information see: Pilkington Glass
If you’ve recently moved into your home and wondering how to tell if you already have safety glass fitted, see the stamp in the corner of the window which should provide details of the standard and manufacturer.
In our next posts, we’ll be looking at the difference between toughened glass and laminated glass along with details for fire resistant glass.

Professional installation is key to protect your home against damp. At Trustyle, we take the care to remove the old fascia boards and complete all the finishing touches to beautify and protect your home.
Installation includes replacing rotten rafter feet, renewing cement on gable end edges and replacing rotten felt up to the first tiling batten.

The UPVC outer skin on our fascias and soffits are colourfast keeping them looking good year after year.
UPVC is totally low maintenance and wipe-clean, and never needs repainting.
We have a selection of colours including white, black and brown designed to complement our full range of windows and doors.
Options include combining your new fascias and soffits with Trustyle cladding and bargeboards or guttering and downpipes for the complete roofline transformation.

Many PVC-U doors look similar but standards can vary wildly. Some are most definately excellent whilst other replacement doors can be broken through in under 10 seconds providing a very low standard of security, especially if it is only fitted with cam locking devices, easily opened by an average burglar with a jemmy. The problem is that all companies will say their replacement UPVC doors are of good quality so its best to arm yourself with some tough questions.
Questions to ask when gaining your door quotes across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes.
Does the door have hook bolts and shoot bolts?
Do the hook bolts operate upwards?
Are anti jemmy devices fitted?
Is the key cylinder anti drill?
Then, some more questions about the company
Are you CPA and FENSA registered? Being CPA registered means they will have an independent body send questionnaires to their customers after work has been carried out to gain service feedback. Ask to see their CPA results!
Do you offer a 10 Year Insurance Backed Warranty?
Where are you based and what is your after sales service like if we have a future problem?
It’s also best to speak to around 2 - 3 companies to get a feel for prices and quality.
I hope this helps when deciding on your new replacement UPVC doors and we’d be much obliged if you’d consider us too when getting your quotes as we have so many happy customers across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes.

Ventilation
By using Ultraframe we can provide different solutions to ensure an ideal climate for your conservatory.
The Ridgeflow ventilation unit is mechanically assisted and thermostatically controlled to provide up to 4 air changes per hour.
The trickle ventilation ensures a natural upward movement of warm air to carry moisture to the roof apex allowing it to filter outside. The roof vents are well insulated providing a choice of manual or electric openers.
The system also has ventilated support trims which fit between the wall and roof with built-in ventilation and slider on/off control buttons.
Heating
Extending your home’s central heating into your new conservatory is an option along with under-floor heating, electric wall heaters or free standing heating appliances.
Fans
We can supply a large range of contemporary and traditional roof ridge mounted fans for gentle air movement. These can be supplied with either a standard pull string or infra red remote control.
Cresting and Finials
You can choose from a variety of cresting and finial mouldings to personalise the exterior of your conservatory roof.
Ultraselect decorative strips
Unique to Ultraframe, Ultraselect decorative strips create the opportunity to enhance the interior of your conservatory in keeping with the style of your intended furnishings.
Lighting
Integrated spotlights in the roof ridge are available to provide the perfect atmosphere - available in a brass finish.

Do you make custom built Conservatories ?
Yes - every one of our conservatories is made to measure and can be personalised further with creative thinking, design and a large range of accessories and features. At Trustyle, our team specialises in each section of the job so we have professional builders to lay the foundation and other specialists to build the sides and the roof. All our team is employed by Trustyle-Uk, we never use sub contractors.
My old Conservatory still has its base - what’s the next step?
We will check that the base is square and level to determine it’s quality and strength. Don’t forget that we have to put our name to your new conservatory and provide you with a 10-year guarantee. Our designers can assess your existing foundation without obligation, no problem.
The neighbours are not friendly, can we protect our privacy?
Again, our designers can provide ideas for your Conservatory so that it is made private by the thoughtful use of obscure glass, solid panels at the side, blinds or even a solid wall on one side. Other ideas may look at the various shapes of conservatory available. The choices are many and our designers more often than not have heard your concerns many times before and have ready-made solutions.
How much do your conservatories cost?
Our conservatories start with solid, quality foundations, built to last, with high quality Sculptured UPVC panels, Pilkington Glass and Ultraframe Roofs. Well over 90% of our previous customers said they felt our service was excellent in the independent CPA (Consumer Protection Association) survey. We provide an honest, down to earth, reliable service starting at £7,500.
In part two, we’ll be answering more of those common conservatory questions!
