Replacements Doors Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes

January 26th, 2008

Many PVC-U doors look similar but standards can vary wildly.  Some are most definately excellent whilst other replacement doors can be broken through in under 10 seconds providing a very low standard of security, especially if it is only fitted with cam locking devices, easily opened by an average burglar with a jemmy. The problem is that all companies will say their replacement UPVC doors are of good quality so its best to arm yourself with some tough questions.

Questions to ask when gaining your door quotes across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes.

Does the door have hook bolts and shoot bolts?

Do the hook bolts operate upwards?

Are anti jemmy devices fitted?

Is the key cylinder anti drill?

Then, some more questions about the company

Are you CPA and FENSA registered?  Being CPA registered means they will have an independent body send questionnaires to their customers after work has been carried out to gain service feedback.  Ask to see their CPA results!

Do you offer a 10 Year Insurance Backed Warranty?

Where are you based and what is your after sales service like if we have a future problem?

It’s also best to speak to around 2 - 3 companies to get a feel for prices and quality.

I hope this helps when deciding on your new replacement UPVC doors and we’d be much obliged if you’d consider us too when getting your quotes as we have so many happy customers across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes.

DIY Porch Building Tips - Leicestershire, Midlands

December 24th, 2007

OK, as professional builders of stylish sculptured UPVC Porch’s across the Midlands and Milton Keynes, we hope that you’ll at least consider a quote from us before tacking this very specialised job on your own.

However, we know that some people like a challenge! So here’s the first of our two part tips guide to constructing your own front Porch after purchasing a DIY home improvement kit.

Side Panels
1) Place the first panel to the wall and mark the position of the fixing holes. It’s good to have a friend help with this bit to hold the panel in place while you check its verticle levels using a spirit level.

Additional panels.
2) Remaining panels to the Porch are joined under the constructors guidelines, fixtures and fittings. Some kits come with a slot and lock. Again, having a helper to support the panels whilst you position and secure them will save time - watch out for the glazed sections as these can break if handled without care.

The Door
3) Before doing anything, decide how your door is going to hang and open. Will it hang on the left or right handed side? Do you want it to open inwards or outwards? Once these have been decided you’ll just need to make sure it’s of a good quality and includes a letterbox.

The Base
4) Todays kits often come with panels which slot into a grooved channel at the base and are then secured with the supplied fixings. Your guide will demonstrate the number and spacing so that the panels are secured well.

Our next post will cover your Porch’s seals and Roof.

For those looking for a professionally built Porch, feel free to request our brochure. Our Porch range starts with a professionally built foundation and have fully sculptured upvc to match the style and period of your property. Once built we provide a ten year insurance backed warranty for peace of mind.

UPVC French Door Design Information by Trustyle

Homes with windows looking out onto there gardens from there lounge or dining room often have that window removed and a pair of French doors fitted, creating an ideal home improvement and investment.

This provides a new dimension to that room. Should you require French doors larger than the window this normally involves supporting the brickwork above the opening and removing the old lintel forming the new opening, then building into position a new lintel.

What French Doors Can Do For You?

French doors offer high security locks with multipoint locking systems on the primary door and shoot bolts on the secondary door. All Trustyle work comes with a 10-year insurance backed warranty.

Thinking About Patio Doors In Leicestershire?

November 25th, 2007

Patio doors are the most popular choice for letting extra light into your home as well as giving easy access to your garden.  This addition has become a popular way to transform the back wall of your home.

Patio doors give the illusion that the room that they are installed in is larger then it is, due to the effect that the large panels of patio doors bring the garden in to the room making the room much lighter and brighter. The technology, which we use creates a smooth sliding action as well as being well insulated to keep out the winter cold whilst letting the summer light in.

Many home owners who only have a window looking out onto their garden from their lounge or dining room often have that window removed and a set of patio doors inserted, transforming the room.Should you require patio doors larger than the window this normally involves supporting the brickwork above the opening and removing the old lintel forming the new opening and building into position a new lintel.

All Trustyle Patio Doors come with ten-year insurance backed warrantees and are fitted by trained professionals across the Midlands and Milton Keynes. In future posts we’ll be looking at the different types of Patio Doors that are available like Tilt in, Tilt & Slide, In Line, French Doors plus the dozens of creative options available to personalise your choice,  like with Georgian Bars, Sculptured Frames, Wood Grain and Brilliant white finishes.
