Double Glazing Quotes | Price Negotiating Tip | Windows Midlands

June 19th, 2008

There are a couple of tips for getting the lowest price from the Window representative that visits your home. I know a team of sales people for the company that I work for and the best tactic is to just be yourself and be polite and friendly to build a rapport with the salesperson first.

You’ll have a price in mind and if your quotation is higher, ask them if they can go lower and see what they come up with. Next, tell them that you can make a decision today but the price has to be much lower because its way more than you expected - at this point, don’t say anything.

If the original price now drops by 10% or more you’ve done your job and if you are happy with everything consider taking the deal. After all, quality home improvements are expensive but they increase the value of your home sometimes by more than the cost of the home improvement immediately so it’s a sound investment, providing you’ve done your homework.

Windows Buckinghamshire Service And Maintenance

April 25th, 2008

For the oiling of hinges use a furniture aerosol wax spray containing silicone. Avoid using oil. Do this once a year to keep your windows hinges and door locks in tip-top condition.

One common mistake when cleaning windows is to use general washing up liquid. This can break the seals down over time.

Don’t use abrasives to clean your windows no matter how long you’ve left them. For white PVC-U use a cream window cleanser. If you live in the Midlands, Windows Buckinghamshire, Nottingham or Milton Keynes, our designers can help with maintenance advice.

For Patio Doors give the track a brush through on a regular basis. Avoid using lubricants on the runners.

Whilst you shouldn’t keep your Window lock keys in full view on every window sill, we do recommend that you keep each window key within the room itself in case of an emergency situation.

You may wish to replace these windows or even extend your home and fit our sculptured profiles throughout.  Whatever you choose for your Midlands property, we can help.

Windows Midlands, Double Glazing Quotes, UPVC Information

February 24th, 2008

Welcome to our fourth and final part to this PVC-U Windows article on how to get the best quote and service for double glazed products and PVC-U replacement Windows Midlands and Milton Keynes, UK.

Guarantees

Obviously you’ll want to ask what guarantees are in place and there is one point worth mentioning here. All good companies should offer a 10 year insurance backed warranty and Trustyle have offered this from day 1. This protects your home improvement should the company that you use go into insolvency.

Because of the above though you should ask what after sales service the company provides as standard and what you can expect if your UPVC home improvement needs attention. This is important, on top of your 10-year insurance backed warranty.

It goes without saying now that you just need to check that the company you choose is FENSA registered. Most are, including Trustyle and this is the body that governs the specification and installation of your double glazed home improvement.

At Trustyle, this means that every single pvc-u home improvement that we complete across Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Nottinghamshire and Milton Keynes is of the same high standard – no exceptions! Visit FENSA

Finally, always verify exactly when you expect your doubling glazing improvement to start work and how long it will take. Our usual installation is between 1 and 3 days and we always remove any windows or old Porch’s and Conservatories as part of our price and service.

Make sure you make it clear that you want your installation completing within the agreed time frame and that you don’t expect workers to start and then come back to complete your job a week or so later. This doesn’t happen at Trustyle but I have heard of this happening to other people so it’s worth mentioning.

If you have old UPVC or traditional installations, make sure you get their removal as part of the service and ensure you don’t become foul of “extra charges”. This is not a factor if you use Trustyle, I am just mentioning it if you live outside of the Midlands or Milton Keynes where we can not service at present as we wish to remain a medium sized company.

This completes the 4 parts to this article. I hope that you found it informative.

Come back again as I’ll be looking at every conservatory design available within our range and answering lots of common questions.

Windows, Doors And Conservatory Quotes, Midlands UK.

February 23rd, 2008

Welcome to part three of our UPVC Home Improvement guide to getting the best double glazing quote across Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes.

As we’ve discussed, getting the lowest double glazing quote doesn’t mean you’ll be getting the best deal as standards of product and service vary wildly in this business.

The trick is to make sure that you first find 1 or 2 companies that can deliver on product quality and service to a high standard and then negotiate a double glazing price with these companies whilst discarding any companies that dont meet your own checklist.

Criteria to tick off might be to see some actual customers houses and its not unusual for people to ask to see some specific houses in their area where we have installed new UPVC products, windows, doors or a conservatory.

If you live in the Leicestershire region you might want to visit our double glazing showroom where we have already built a conservatory and have many samples of our range, clear to see.

It can be a good idea to ask to speak to previous customers. You can ask questions like:

Did the fitters arrive on time and complete the work as stated?

Did they wear uniforms, clean up after themselves, were well spoken?

Would you recommend them to your friends?

These are all excellent questions to ask a window companies previous customers if you are able to provide you with the confidence to go ahead with complete peace of mind. After all, supplying your home with quality upvc home improvements is a big decision so you are well within your rights to ask as many questions and expect the company to bend over backwards to give you clear answers.

Our ongoing success at Trustyle has come through customer satisfaction and personal recommendations.

Getting the price down.

It might seem like an obvious statement but always ask for the best price. Say that you are ready to strike a deal but it depends on the price. Home Improvement Companies including ours have set price guidelines but can run special offers on products like any other window company so asking if a company can lower their price to get the business is not unreasonable and good sense.

Replacement Windows Quotes Guide To The Midlands

February 20th, 2008

Welcome to part two in our guide to getting the best quote, advice and service across Leicester, Northampton, Bedford, Coventry and Milton Keynes.  If you missed part one,  you’ll find it below!

The first step is to shortlist the companies that you would like to see (hopefully Trustyle will be one of them!) Then arrange a no obligation quote by submitting the request quote form online.

I mentioned a number of key questions in part one so in this part we’ll concentrate on what to expect when a designer arrives to show you their services.

Firstly,  a good designer will take a note of what your requirements are,  then show you a range of products that match your house.  Our designers have much experience in this area and from past installations,  know what suits a property and what to avoid depending on the style of your home.

Next,  you’ll be shown actual samples of product.  This doesnt mean that our designer will walk in with an entire door or window!  It just means you’ll be shown a sample to get a feel for the quality and look as well as see better pictures of past finished work.

At this point its always worth checking on a companies guarantees, memberships and after sales service.  At Trustyle for instance we provide a 10 year insurance backed warranty,  are members of FENSA and the CPA.  As we only focus on the Midlands we are still a locally managed firm and can provide a high level of after sales care.  All these questions are important to ask before making your decision.

In part three,  we’ll be looking at how to negotiate the best price for your double glazing whether it be replacement pvcu windows, a new conservatory, porch or doors across the Midlands.

Double Glazing Quotation Checklist, Windows Midlands, UK

February 18th, 2008

Welcome to the first of our 4 part guide to getting the best double glazing quotation and service possible in Leicestershire, Northampton, Bedford, Coventry and Milton Keynes.

Whether you are interested in upvc replacement windows, a new porch, french doors or a conservatory, following these rules will save you money, ensure you get a good service whilst making sure that you dont make a big mistake.

Firstly, its handy to know that there are around 9,000 independent double glazing companies across the United Kingdom. This might surprise you as it did me when I first started working for Trustyle. With so many companies out there you wont be surprised to know that standards and products can vary wildly so just getting several quotes wont necessarily ensure you’ll make the right decision as all companies will say that their product is of good quality! There are bench marks of quality in place so its important to compare prices of like for like upvc products.

This means doing a bit of research. Trustyle products for instance have a sculptured profile. This means that when you look at our window, door and conservatory frames, you’ll see a shape, grove and style like a simple picture frame which is most appealing especially when comparing against many of our competitors who manufacture flat looking frames. Asking if a company supplies sculptured profile could be your first question.

Second, we use Pilkington Glass throughout our range. Many companies choose Pilkington for its excellent quality and we are no exception, this could be your second question.

Their are various grades of pvc-u which companies use for their frames - some better than others. A good quality upvc is VEKA or Alastoprene and we use both. Checking on their pvc-u product and comparing like for like double glazing could be your third question.

Check back tomorrow, where I’ll be posting part two of this article and showing how to get your double glazing quote down across the Midlands.

UPVC Window Double Glazing Across Nottinghamshire

February 17th, 2008

Nottingham has a wide range of period and modern properties so tailoring the right home improvement is key to the perfect choice for your home.
Our designers have a wide range of window designs to choose from and we also have Rosewood and traditional Oak as colours as well as traditional brilliant white for more modern property windows.

You may have heard many different terms for modern double glazed windows, like upvc, pvc-u and pvcu. You’ll be pleased to know that they all mean the same thing!

The double glazed part of the window is the glass or sealed unit comprising of two panels of glass. The glass panes are kept apart by spacer bars which contain hundreds of little silica balls which absorb any moisture which exists in the air gap between the two glass panes.

Jargon apart though we supply and fit our Sculptured profile window across Nottinghamshire which our past customers have rated very highly as they are almost like picture frames but with high strength pvc-u compound.

It doesn’t stop their though – the same Sculptured design, Pilkington Glass, PVC-U compound and colour range is offered throughout our doors, conservatories and Porch range.
